For those who can’t make it to the Uitbureau ticketing office (Veldstraat 82b, Gent) to pick out their tickets for Resonance Ghent 2012, can collect their tickets - bought in presale - at the Handelsbeurs ticketing office from 19.00 hrs onwards.

An interview with Yves De Mey of SENDAI fame is featured this week in one of Belgium’s main weekly magazines, HUMO. Run to your newsstand, and read about never-ending flows of releases compared to going to the bakery, the birth of Sendai, child-like enthousiasm of De Mey’s modular home-studio and their exclusive appearance at Resonance Ghent 2012, before heading over to Montreal’s MUTEK festival early June.

An amount of tickets will be sold at the Handelsbeurs ticket office the evening itself.

Please be on time for the first show. We, Resonance Ghent, uphold the right to ask latecomers to wait until the end of the first performance to enter the main Concerthall. This is done not to disturb the artist, nor the audience during the performances.

Starting and curating the Substrata festival in 2011, a three-day intimate event focusing on varying perspectives of scale through the use of sound, composition and visuals, Rafael Anton Irissari, a self-taught composer/musician, based in Seattle, is predominantly associated with minimalist, drone and ambient-music, exploring textural electronics for over half a decade, collaborating with many artists such as Benoit Pouilard (as Orcas - debut album to be released on Morr Music soon), Biosphere, Christian Fennesz, Goldmund and many more.

R.A. Irissari will be playing at the second Icarus Night, Sunday April 1st, at DOK Gent. - Comes highly recommended.

Since we regard this being a ’sit down & listen’ series of performances, and try to prevent people walking in and out during the performances, we uphold the right to politely ask latecomers to wait until the end of each performance to enter the concerthall. “ A refusal to celebrate a statistical probability ”, off “Geotope‘, Time To Express 2012

It’s spring, sun’s out and reminissing last night’s shows by Jason Van Gulick, as Tashi Wada & Stephan Mathieu’s wonderful virginal & e-bows collaboration at Les Ateliers Claus in Brussels. A mere amount of attendees were subdued by simple, yet wonderfully deep and intense tones -  (think Eliane Radigue, drenched in warmth) - coming from the duo’s set-up, including Charlemagne Palestine, closely paying attention and clearly fascinated by what was going on before his eyes.

Jason Van Gulick, who was entirely new to me, provided us with a solo-drum set-up, contactmicrophones linked to his cymbals creating a subtle undertone, resonating in the confined space of Les Ateliers, hitting the toms, then brushing subtly, bringing all prospects forward of what can be done else, sonically, with a drum set-up. A wonderful show by a new artist, somewhat linked to the sound of Austria’s Radian.

Of course, both my collegue of Icarus.fm as i were there to promote  the second Icarus night - as Resonance Ghent 2012 - taking place at DOK Ghent, featuring an exclusive performance by Seatlle-based guitarist/sound composer Rafael Anton Irissari. Note April 1st in your agenda, this is one night not to miss.

Find us in the very near future at other shows such as ANBB at Ancienne Belgique, Still Corners at Charlatan and Gala Drop at Les Ateliers Claus, handing out the beautiful flyer designed by Verzetsels.

In the meantime, entirely Resonance-related, Peter & Yves of Sendai uploaded a large excerpt of their Berghain performance, for Club Transmediale - last February - to Soundcloud, providing us with a new and exciting sonic language. If this doesn’t make you curious for their performance at Handelsbeurs, April 7th, i surely don’t know what will.

“Loosely inspired by Belgian poet Paul Van Ostaijen ?”, someone pondered after posting the final draft of the Resonance Ghent 2012 artwork onto Facebook yesterday afternoon. Purposely, not our intention, but i’m sure our very talented in-house designer Nick Lambrecht at Verzetsels would, and should feel honoured by this comment. Van Ostaijen, 2.0.
